What is canyoning?

Canyoning —also known as gorge descent, canyon descent, or canyoning— is an adventure sport that involves descending mountain rivers while overcoming natural obstacles using techniques such as rappelling, jumping, sliding, and swimming. Each section of the canyon presents different challenges: pools to float in, drops to jump, and waterfalls to descend with ropes.
